Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th, 1991. She is an American musician and singer. She was the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On October 21, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the internet, including her self launched single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's remark. Then, later in the calendar, her songs circulated all over Dreamville. The 8th of December was the day she revealed that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream dropped on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a an accompanying music video. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It was then released as a stand-alone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was made available with a video posted on YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over three million times over the first 7 days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
